Daily alertness and cognition test

Use our 60-second alertness and cognition test at the beginning of each shift to give your staff an indication of their alertness levels that day, with warnings and suggestions for extra precautions if they are at risk of low alertness. See composite or individual results to allow for early warning or individual follow up.

Daily alertness and cognition test

Our 60-second alertness and cognition test is based on the well-validated Stroop test. It gives a good indication of how a user's alertness is for that shift. We have tested it in a study we ran in conjunction with National Highways Commercial Vehicle Incident Prevention team. We have also seen a correlation between lower alertness at the beginning of a shift and lower alertness throughout the rest of a shift in control subjects.

We monitor individuals against their own baseline and warn them when they might be at risk of low alertness. We allow users to set a text and / or email reminder to complete the test at the beginning of their next shift or series of shifts.

Organisations can see which members of staff have completed the test each day. They then have the option to either see the composite results in graph format – so they can see days when there is high levels of low alertness – or they have the option to see individuals scores, if they are above or below baseline and by how much, thereby allowing for supervisor check in and possible intervention. The ideal scenario would be to run our Individual Risk Assessment where individuals are a certain percentage below their baseline score.

Key benefits:

  • 75 seconds in total to complete the test at the start of every shift
  • Instant individual feedback with warnings and suggested precautions
  • Composite and individual results dashboard for managers
  • Early warning system for at-risk employees
  • Simple, non-intrusive integration into existing shift start routines
